Lean-to? Or three? Or four?

Posted by GavinV on Nov 27 2016 - 1:28pm

This of all of the camp outs is the best. This is the opinion of most people in the troop. The
lean-to Campout is a campout that is like no other from the sleeping situation to the stuff you do. First, you don't need to sleep in tents, though some still choose to, you either sleep out under the stars or, for the second night you sleep in a lean-to. Second, you BUILD your lean-to. Unlike setting up a tent, you have to gather the materials, then you make it from scratch. Third, you sleep with from three to eight different people instead of the casual two. I hope I've explained enough of the Campout for you to get at least a picture of what we do. But trust it is about five billion times as fun as it sounds! Hope to see you at the next one!

The Rendezvous: meet you there

Our troop arrived on Friday. We set up our tents, though we had boundary issues, we overcame it. On Saturday some of the activities we participated in were BB gun free shooting, geocaching, water balloon launcher, The Ultimate Ninja Course and to rap it all up in a big red bow, a concert to close the day. We had a few bumps and bruises, but total it was an overall success. Next time we'll be there we'll be older, wiser, stronger and more prepared than ever.

Introducing our New Leaders!

Posted by GavinV on Sep 15 2016 - 7:23pm

Bsa First Meeting
The first meeting of the year is one of a kind. First off you get to meet your fellow scouts after a long (most likely hot) summer! Second, you can get leadership positions. “What is so important about leadership positions?” You may be asking. Without leadership positions, everything would be in chaos. Third you can get new patrols. Now you're probably asking yourself, “what is a patrol?” A patrol is a group or two that the scouts make for at times of group or patrol activities if you will, such as the war canoe. Oh yeah! Almost forgot, congratulations to Ryan on getting SPL (Senior Patrol Leader) and also Cameron on getting ASPL (Assistant Senior Patrol Leader). Patrol leaders are also congratulated and are as followed. The Vikings patrol leader is Huron and the assistant patrol leader being Owen. The Flying Eagles patrol leader is Gabriel and the assistant patrol leader is Gavin. Nathan B. is our LNT (leave no trace). Nathan H. is our QM (quarter master). Luke is our librarian. Jeremy is our historian. Colin is our scribe. Phil is our Chaplains aid. Christopher is our OA Rep. And Gavin is the webmaster. Thank you for reading this.

Art on the lake. (Day in the sun)

This service project may not have been as fun as some of the others, but it was just as important as any other service project. You could even say it was more important.  This service project was one of the only ones where we could earn money for the troop while also helping out a good event.   The BSA’s job was to take care of the entrances and exits of the “parking lots”. It was extremely hot during our work time and was kind of exhausting with all of the running around and stuff. We had a small crew of scouts, but we all worked hard, got a little sunburned and made the best of a long day.

BSA Summer Camp 2016 (JOHN FEY!)

The Cole Canoe Base Campout is the second biggest camp in America. It lasts five weeks but each troop only stays one week. Remember that it comes every summer! The camp has many events every week. Some are The Beast Feast, Ice Cream Social and The River Rat Rodeo. Sorry if this is starting to sound like an infomercial, we're just trying to explain it to you.

As I get them, I'll put photos out in the Photo Album here.

At the moment, the first shot is some of the Scouts Monday morning (still waking up it appears).
