Advancement at home

Posted by admin on Mar 2 2014 - 2:18am

As you progress through the Tenderfoot, 2nd Class and 1st Class ranks, there are requirements that YOU need to work on at home - stuff we can't do at Troop Meetings, Campouts and Service Projects:

Winter Campout at Cole Canoe Base - Winter Activities and Scout Skills/Rank Advancement

Posted by admin on Mar 2 2014 - 2:18am

10 Scouts and 7 adults made the trek up north to our home-away-from-home - Cole Canoe Base in Alger, MI - to spend a weekend playing in the snow and working on their Scout Skills.  No trailer meant less chance for high-wind related issues, but it also meant bringing everything in the vehicles.  Over the course of the weekend, the Scouts had to deal with several items that were left behind, but that's part of Scouting.

Webelos Weekend 2013 - Webelos, Pumpkin Pies, Movies & Magic!

Posted by admin on Jan 12 2014 - 1:36am

Another busy weekend up at D-bar-A Scout Ranch with a ton a Webelos Scouts visiting the Troop.  There were 23 Webelos and their parents that spent Saturday, one night, or both nights with us (some even spent the night in tents).  Nice work, Mrs Williams on connecting with the Webelos Families!

Add to that the 14 Boy Scouts and 6-7 Troop leaders and you can see we had a full house during the day on Saturday.

January/February Campout Decisions

Posted by admin on Jan 1 2014 - 4:27am

After much consideration and debate, the PLC decided on doing a Skiing Campout in January (Caberfae?) and to head back up north to Cole Canoe Base in February for a variety of activities, including Snowshoeing, Cross-country Skiing, Snow Shelter building and Rank Advancement.

Mr Carter MAY try to get some canoeing in during the February campout as well.

Interested in attending a Red Wings game on a special Scout Night?  Want a special patch and 'Scout Night' puck?

Well guess what - we're going to watch the Red Wings pummel the New Jersey Devils on Friday, March 7th at Joe Lewis Arena, and you can attend.

Better yet, you can bring your friends and family as well!

Merit Badge Opportunities

Posted by admin on Nov 27 2013 - 12:36am

When it comes to group sessions to earn Merit Badges, we're seeing a lot of activity lately.  To help keep you current on what's available, we've added the Merit Badge Opportunities page to the Troop website.  The plan is to keep this up to date on a weekly basis as sessions are added/completed.  If you become aware of new sessions that should be shared with the Troop, please let us know at MeritBadges@Troop1701.org.
