Wright-Patterson AFB Museum Campout UPDATE 100+ pictures added!

Posted by admin on Apr 20 2013 - 3:15pm

The Troop (12 Scouts and 4 adults in 3 full vehicles) headed south Friday, toward the National Museum of the US Air Force in Dayton, Ohio.  About 4 hours later, they arrived at Cricket Holler Scout Camp.  Instead of tents or a cabin, the weekend was spent in the (rustic) Dan Boone Adriondacks (think of a cabin with only 3 walls - no heat, no electricity, but with bunk beds, or at least the wooden frames of bunk beds).

In the morning, after a quick stop at McDonalds, it was off to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Museum.  You really can't see all of the Museum in one day, and that's not all this trip has in common with Cedar Point - - - there's also a LOT of walking to check everything out.  As you'll see in the Photo Album, there was lots for the boys to do to keep busy while learning about our aviation history.

Lunch was in the Valkyrie Cafe in the museum.  The cafe is run by the Air Force Museum Foundation.

When the museum closed at 5pm, it was time to head over to Golden Corral for dinner, and then back to Cricket Holler for some more fun, including a campfire, of course!
